If a label helps someone feel attached to a community, I can understand but really it is up for that person to decide for themselves.  I agree with what you are saying here because gender is just as much of a spectrum as sexuality and the worlds mix together.  I totally agree that a trans man is still a man in every way that matters but if someone who loves them wants to be known as queer, gay, straight, a potato, it shouldn’t matter as long as it doesn’t offend their partner.  Personal labels are up to the individual.  We can always add more letters.
